Character Name: Saga Anderson
Series: Alan Wake / Remedyverse
Age: 35
From When?: end of the Final Draft of canon; the game needs to be played through TWICE to get the proper end and she's from the second one, shortly after she's [highlight for spoiler] just gotten to speak to her daughter on the phone. ETA: She *has* spent quite a lot of time on the Barge, but as far as she's concerned, she's coming back minutes after she fell off.

Warden Justification: Saga is a loving wife and mother, a dedicated partner, and an accomplished FBI agent who cares about protecting people, is brave enough to put her ass on the line to do it, and clever enough to enjoy the intellectual challenge of it. She's also just had her entire world blown open with weird by a mystery writer who's been missing for 13 years. One of her primary skills is in profiling and figuring people out but while she's very good at sticking her ground and not letting anyone push her around, she always does her best to understand, appreciate where people are, and come to understand why they do what they do. Sometimes she'll judge, but she's good at taking in new information and reconsidering context for a greater understanding. She'd also be the first person to tell you she's not perfect, that life (and the various roles one plays in it) is complicated, and that everyone stumbles, just some farther than others. Given her experience in the game and dealing with Alan (and Scratch), she's certainly seen people's demons up close and personal and she's not afraid to tangle with them. ETA: She has at least one graduation under her belt so she's a proven quantity as well.

Item: Her charm bracelet; the charms will change to indicate information and one that never changes (a compass) will tug her towards her inmate if asked and/or info will be inscribed on the braclet as needed.

Abilities/Powers: Since I apped the first time, I wrote up this whole thing about her powers, complete with permissions. The TLDEER of it all is "seer, reality hopper, narratively The Hero". The specifics on her seeing abilities have permissions accordingly.

Wardening Strategies and Philosophies: Saga has gone through a huge shift in reality per her canon, so she's going to approach the Barge warily but with complete willingness to accept. One of the nice things about her is that she believes what she sees with her eyes; she knows her perception is on point and even when the Dark Place tried to send her into a self-doubt spiral, she was able to pull herself out. She's going to be interested to learn the mechanics and how this place functions as well as how everyone deals with how this place functions. She's an FBI agent so she'll definitely have a certain amount of 'official' edge to her poise but she's not the sort to stand too heavily on that definition or let it bite her in the ass. She's not here to be an asshole and she's tried to be a force working WITH local law enforcement, not against it when she's there. (Sorry M&T!)

She'll see her role as a warden a little more officially than many of mine do, seeing her inmate as an assignment and a 'case' file to assemble and work through to help. This isn't to say she won't have empathy and sympathy, but she's definitely a puzzle solver by nature and that's going to be a big part in how she helps someone: figuring out what needs to be done, what pieces are missing, what pain needs to be addressed, to progress the 'case'. As for how she'll engage her inmate, she'll see this as a way to get them out of here, a case that she's solving WITH them and FOR them and she's going to try and make them see why it makes sense to do this even if it isn't fun along the way.

Strength-wise, she's very good at figuring people out, she's brave, she's thoughtful, she's a very warm and loving person who helped to temper her hard-case partner, and she's someone who tries to work with people and find middle ground instead of immediately setting herself up against them even though she is willing to and able to stand on her own if she has to. She's a quick learner and very observant, learning even weird rules quickly and taking them to heart. She's naturally curious and willing to experiment, willing to consider new avenues and new information without pride or 'this is too weird, it CAN'T be true' getting in the way, and she just Wants To Know a lot of the time. She's also got a very stable life: a daughter, a husband, a career she's happy about while having some mystery in there (she didn't know her mother's family growing up, didn't know her father, EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED AT CAULDRON LAKE) and she balances the wild with the normal pretty practically.

Weakness-wise, she can be stubborn and when she has a non-negotiable it is NON-NEGOTIABLE. She does *have* those insecurities about herself, specifically about her role as a mother and a partner given her love of her job and her willingness to go out on cases away from them. She's sometimes a little *too* willing to dive into the thick of it and her ability to see has sometimes had her wander off the beaten path and into danger where others didn't think to go. Further, that curiosity can sometimes be a little much, such to where she's got to know everything about everything and that tendency to want to connect the threads and put ideas into neat little boxes can backfire when she doesn't realize she's going down a bad path; it took her way too long to figure out that the Cult of the Tree were the good guys doing the 'clean up' against the Taken and the Dark Presence's minions while Alan was away and the government couldn't/wouldn't help. Also her 'helpful' puzzle solver nature can make her appear cold sometimes when she's just trying to figure things out to take action.

She'd do best with someone who's evasive and difficult, who needs a no nonsense personality with the ability to sympathize. Someone who's got a complicated story and a complicated problem would definitely be good for her.

A simple 'I'm an asshole because I like being an asshole' and/or monster type inmate wouldn't do well with her. She'd feel like their keeper and it'd lead to a lot of frustration on both sides with her looking for motives and issues that just aren't there. It could work but it wouldn't be her strongest pairing without other circumstances.

ETA: All of this remains true, except that a year plus on the Barge has given her even more experience with Rolling With It.

Deal: She is here to ensure that Mr. Door will never have the ability to take or manipulate her daughter. What her deal will entail exactly is probably something she'll explore as she goes.

History: Saga @ Alan Wake Wiki

Sample Network Entry: How would Arthur put it? 'Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more'? I mean, technically that's Shakespeare, but I'll be honest that in my head, I'm hearing it in his voice.

There's a part of me wondering if I should be here, whether I should have accepted this the second time or just gone home, been with my family. But the fact of the matter is that I have work undone:

Henry.

Iago.

Two people who put their trust in me, who put their *faith* in me to help them. It's one thing getting tossed off the boat; nothing for it, and truth is, I wasn't going to try very hard to get back there, no matter how good of a shot I might have. I still don't entirely understand this whole thing, not in the way that means it would feel safe to fuck around like that. But if the Admiral's going to give me an invite?

Hell yeah. No question.

All that trouble to get Wake out of the Dark Place, like *fuck* am I leaving either of those two behind.

It's not *just* that: the looming problem of Door, Logan, everything that's going on. Believe me, I haven't forgotten any of it. But I know that isn't why I said yes.

Door I'll figure out. I'll handle him, father or no. I'll protect my daughter, no matter what comes my way.

But the answer was never going to be no. Not until the job is done. Not until the story is finished *right.*
